John Deere 310B specifications

The 310B has separate reverser and implement-pressure specifications

Deere’s original technical sheet identifies a collar-shift transmission with a hydraulic reverser. The transmission pump test and the closed-centre implement-pump test use different pressures and engine speeds. A published implement-flow figure cannot establish whether the reverser is receiving its specified supply.

The sheet also distinguishes hydraulic standby pressure from the relief settings for individual loader and backhoe functions. Bucket dump, bucket rollback and backhoe boom raise have separate entries. A reading from one circuit therefore does not establish that another circuit has reached its own setting.

Record the test location and operating condition with the gauge reading.

Its cycle-time table specifies warm oil and fast idle, and distinguishes floating the loader boom down from powering it down. A cold start or a different lowering mode is not the same test. The capacity schedule likewise separates transmission refill from the combined transmission-and-hydraulic quantity; those amounts describe different drain operations.

Two engine power and torque entries appear in the sheet. Match the engine version before selecting one; the larger entry does not establish that every 310B has that output.

A broken-line account did not establish a failed main pump

In a public 310B discussion, the owner described losing both directions of travel and both loader and backhoe movement after a steel line broke. Cleaning the screen and replacing filters had not restored operation. The repaired line then separated again at an added compression connection.

Replies first asked which line had failed and what fitting had been installed. Participants discussed the transmission-fed hydraulic supply, stroke control and the pressure-control valve, but their explanations remained suggestions. One contributor reconsidered the proposed cause because the combination of pressure at the broken line and no implement movement was still unexplained.

The owner had not reported a successful repair in the opened thread. A much later reply described similar symptoms without the broken line; it was another report, not confirmation of the first diagnosis. Keep those cases separate.

For a machine offered with this fault, ask for the identified line, a correctly rated repair and documented reverser and hydraulic test results. The discussion does not justify ordering a pump from the symptom alone.
