Tadano ATF400G-6, ATF650XL-2 and ATF65G-4: carrier and boom equipment
ATF400G-6: the six-axle carrier and boom-support options
Tadano's 2019 American technical book describes a six-axle carrier with selectable drive on the fourth axle; the second and sixth axles are not driven. Rear steering also changes with road speed. The fourth and fifth axles center first, followed at a higher speed by the third and sixth.
The diagram and equipment description therefore need to accompany any comparison of turning behavior.
The carrier transmission is TC-Tronic, with a torque-converter clutch as well as the dry clutch and integrated intarder. That arrangement differs from an unqualified description of the older cranes' AS-Tronic transmissions. A model-name comparison alone would conceal that drive-system distinction.
The OM936LA upper engine is a six-cylinder unit in this book. Its stated rating differs from the earlier reference entry with reversed horsepower digits. It drives a hydraulic arrangement that separates the main twin pump, swing and counterweight circuit, and control-oil supply.
The additional oil cooler is listed separately too.
Five main-boom sections use a single telescope cylinder. Beyond that main boom, Tadano offers fixed, tilting, luffing and hydraulically telescoping jib arrangements, each with different combinations. The Power System boom-suspension equipment is optional.
Its appearance in a capacity book does not mean every used ATF400G-6 includes that equipment, or that a chart for one jib can be used with another.

ATF65G-4 road steering is separate from construction-site steering
The archived American ATF65G-4 booklet distinguishes its on-road steering from the low-gear construction-site modes. Site operation can use coordinated all-wheel steering, crab motion or control of the rear pair. Its transfer case also changes the driven-axle arrangement between road and off-road travel.
An all-wheel-steering description must not be read as proof of the optional all-wheel-drive specification.
The upper OM904LA and carrier OM501LA have different duties and fuel tanks. The main boom has five sections, while the folding lattice extension and the optional single-top sheave are separate fittings. The maximum sheave height includes boom-head geometry; it is not simply the length of the extended boom.
For the ATF650XL-2 column, retain the full model suffix when requesting documentation. Tadano's accessible American archive also contains a book headed ATF650XL, without that suffix, and with its own carrier, boom and winch descriptions. It is useful background, but it cannot by itself prove that every component or option matches a later suffixed machine.
