John Deere 210C to 510B specifications

The 310C engine sheet and the D-series option weights answer different questions

The original 310C brochure identifies the naturally aspirated 4239D engine. Its net rating includes the cooling fan and normal engine equipment; the gross rating omits the fan. Match the engine identification when ordering internal parts: this configuration is distinct from the larger-displacement engines elsewhere in the comparison.

An engine replacement would need its own identification and output specification.

The 310C gearbox also distinguishes its lower collar-shift speeds from the synchronized upper speeds. The hydraulic reverser is a separate assembly. A forward/reverse complaint and difficulty selecting a main gear therefore concern different controls and should be described separately when requesting service information.

The 315D additions must be added to a complete machine

Deere lists the 315D’s mechanical-front-wheel-drive package and extendable dipperstick as additions to its base operating weight. Neither small addition is a complete tractor weight. The extension entry excludes its required counterweight; the counterweight footnote also accounts for removing the front bumper.

Identify those fitted parts before calculating a transport total.

The same 315D drawing distinguishes maximum point depth from depths achieved with a flat trench bottom. Extending the dipper changes the working envelope, while the side-shift dimension describes lateral placement of the backhoe carriage. Those dimensions cannot substitute for one another beside a wall or along an excavation.

The 315SE loader does not use the backhoe’s published flow figure

The 315SE hydraulic schedule gives separate loader and backhoe flow entries for its tandem gear pump with an unloader. A loader-function assessment should use the loader entry, not assume that the larger backhoe figure describes both circuits.

Its cab is another weight addition. The loader’s full-height lifting figure also depends on which bucket is fitted: the long-lip bucket and the multipurpose options occupy different columns. A seller quoting only the largest lift number leaves the bucket configuration unresolved.

Reach starts at a named point on the machine

The 310D and 510B drawings measure horizontal reach from both the swing pivot and the rear axle. Truck-loading height is a vertical measurement. Confusing those rows makes an extended dipper appear to have less reach than the standard equipment.

The 510B also uses a closed-centre, variable-flow radial-piston hydraulic system, while the 310D sheet describes an open-centre gear-pump arrangement. Matching an engine-power class does not match their pump-control designs. Use the appropriate machine’s hydraulic specification when comparing a pressure reading or arranging a pump test.
