Cat large dozers, graders and historical equipment index

Distinguish Cat wheel dozers, tracked dozers, track loaders and mine graders, with complete historical model tables and manufacturer rating conditions.

Short answer

36 Cat mixed dozing and grading collection models have a page here, 28 historically grouped dozer/loader entries and 8 motor graders. The Cat mixed dozing and grading collection list runs from the 953 to the 16, at 305 to 907 hp, in 58 listed versions.

Separate mine support duties before comparing horsepower

A Cat 854 pushes on tyres; a D9 travels on tracks; a 24 motor grader shapes the haul road. Those are separate purchasing questions. The historical list below puts these machines together, and even includes the smaller 953, 963 and 973.

Caterpillar identifies that last group as track loaders. Their buckets make them candidates for digging, carrying and loading, so their presence here does not establish that a crawler dozer can perform the same loading cycle.

The distinction also resolves the misleading 285 hp label in this address. Caterpillar's current comparison gives the 953, 963 and 973 flywheel outputs of 160, 202 and 275 hp. All are below that boundary.

The 963's optional Fusion coupler accepts compatible attachments, while its hydrostatic transmission and oscillating track frames belong to the loader package. For a bucket-and-fork requirement, begin with that attachment arrangement and the loader's capacities. Selecting the largest dozing horsepower would answer a different question.

Wheel-dozer traction and crawler-dozer power are different comparisons

The 854's impeller-clutch converter and rimpull control manage traction at the tyres. Its transmission offers three forward and three reverse ratios, and the STIC lever combines steering, direction and gear selection. For a fleet considering a wheel dozer, inspect those drive and control functions alongside the blade arrangement.

Caterpillar offers separate Semi-U, heavy-duty Semi-U and coal blades; the name 854 alone does not identify the fitted tool.

Even its engine headline needs qualification. The retained 907 hp entry is gross power associated with the Tier 2-equivalent configuration. The current technical table separately gives 823 hp net for that emissions configuration and 814 hp net for U.S. Tier 4 Final.

Using the gross headline against a crawler's net output would distort the comparison before soil, traction or blade capacity entered it.

Choose a grader around the haul-road job

Caterpillar positions the 16 for mining fleets with hauling trucks of 136 tonnes, or 150 short tons, and smaller, or as a complement to a 24 in larger operations. Its mining comparison lists the 24 with a standard 24-foot moldboard and an optional 28-foot blade for wider roads and long passes. That relationship gives a fleet planner a more useful starting point than treating the historical 24H ES and 24M weight entries as a complete sizing rule.

The current 24 product sheet states 535 hp net and 165,314 lb typically equipped. These describe the current machine, not a correction to the separately identified 24M's historical 533 hp and 145,151 lb. Keep those generations apart.

Cat Grade with Cross Slope controls one side of the current grader's blade to maintain the selected cross slope; it supports drainage shaping, while steering, articulation and the rest of the grading task still require their own controls and operating plan.

The Cat mixed dozing and grading collection range by model and configuration

Historical catalog snapshot, with mixed power-rating bases: 28 historically grouped dozer/loader pages: engine power from 305 hp on the D8R to 907 hp on the 854, and the heaviest single listing is the 854 at 224,647 lb. 8 motor grader pages: engine power from 500 hp on the 24H ES to 533 hp on the 24M, and the heaviest single listing is the 24M at 145,151 lb. Half of the 34 Cat mixed dozing and grading collection models sit between 370 and 770 hp, and half of the listed weights on single-model pages fall between 65,901 lb and 136,576 lb. The three most powerful are the 854 at 907 hp, D11T CD at 850 hp, and D11T at 850 hp. 13 of the 36 pages cover more than one version, and the D11N to D11T CD has the most, at 5.

Where do the Cat mixed dozing and grading collection figures come from?

The historical collection used Caterpillar U.S. product specifications and RitchieSpecs. Its 36 pages were observed on 2026-09-24, from the 953 to the 16. The manufacturer comparisons above identify additional current sources; their model and rating conditions accompany the new facts.

Why are some Cat mixed dozing and grading collection models missing?

The original catalog screen required 20 figures and recorded 159 Cat listings below that threshold. Its held examples were SE60 V XW Vibratory Screed, SE60 V Asphalt Screed and SE50 V Vibratory Screed. Those paving attachments are not candidates for a large-dozer or haul-road-grader comparison.

What happens when Cat updates a spec sheet for a Cat mixed dozing and grading collection model?

For the 58 listed versions on these 36 pages, retain the document edition with any revised value. Current wheel-dozer output and current grader equipment above are separately identified; they do not silently replace the historical model records.
